Christmas Letter 2014

Merry Christmas

from Kirk and Ann Miller

Greetings from Deerfield, IL. This past year has been exciting and busy!

At the beginning of this year, Kirk began his new role at Trinity’s library as a reference librarian. He assists the library in purchasing new Biblical and theological works, writes research guides for the website, helps masters students, PhD students, and professors do research and writing, and began a new forum for students and faculty to have discussions on key Biblical and theological issues with leading scholars.

This Spring Kirk had the opportunity to do a study tour of Israel thanks to his parents, Jeff and Lisa.

Kirk continues his involvement at Lake Drive Baptist Church. He had the opportunity to attend a pastors’ conference with the church leadership in the spring. He finished teaching a series to the teens in the spring on the Bible’s overarching storyline, helped lead an adult small group, taught a series in the summer on the Gospel, had the privilege of preaching twice, and is currently finishing up a series with the adults on how to study the Bible. He also administrates the church’s teen ministry, website, social media, and sound.

Kirk is now finishing up his fifth semester of his MDiv at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He has two more full-time semesters before his internship.

At the beginning of the year, Ann finished training and started her career at Uline Shipping Supplies. Throughout the year, she has loved her job and continues to make new friends. In January, she will start a new position within Uline working as a “product expert” researching questions about Uline’s 29,000 product offerings. She is excited for the new adventure and happy for the opportunity to excel within the company.

She completed her role as a Small Group Leader at a wives support group on Trinity’s campus and transitioned into a new role as the Small Group Coordinator overseeing more than 60 women involved in the program. The job has been time consuming and challenging, but has helped her become more social and organized.

We made a commitment this summer to explore Chicago. We went to Navy Pier, the art museum with Ann’s brother and mom, Willis Tower (formerly known as the Sears Tower) with Kirk’s mom and dad, the Alder Planetarium, Millennium Park with Kirk’s sister and brother-in-law, and the Field Museum with Ann’s former boss from Scalawags. We had a great time and loved all the sightseeing plus the ethnic foods they were able to try! This fall we were also able to attend the Packers/Lions game in Detroit (the Lions won).

We had a great time spending the holidays with our families. For July 4th, we went to Cheboygan to visit Ann’s parents, brother, and extended family. We got to watch fireworks and spend some time in Mackinaw City being tourists. Thanksgiving was spent in De Pere, Wisconsin visiting Kirk’s grandparents. It was nice getting to see family and congratulate Kirk’s brother, Jackson, on winning nationals in soccer.

We hope you’ve had a great year as well and wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
